As temperature rises, you eventually end up with excessive sebum around Tzone , itchy rashes, sunburn and premature sign of aging
Every year summer take a toll on your skin. The scorching heat, pollution, humidity, all wipe off the natural glow, and sometimes invite rashes and skin infections
Today we will discuss about skin damage due to overexposure to uv rays
Acne: If you have oily skin, humidity in summer might increase sebum production and will aggravate acne
Age spots: Exposure to sun can cause wrinkles and age spots
Sun tanning: Excess exposure can cause tanning, it occurs due to injury to the top layer of your skin
Uneven skin tone: Too much sun causes some areas of your skin to appear darker, while other look lighter. It can also make permanent changes in small blood vessels, which gives a reddish look at places
Sunburn: Your skin turns red and gives mild itching sensation, it affects only outer layer of your skin but if exposure to heat continues it cause damage to deeper layers of skin and takes longer to heal
Freckles: you will notice it in fair complexion people on sun expose part (freckles can be spotted on those with fair complexion due to sun exposure)
Melasma: This shows up as tan or brown patches on your cheeks, nose, forehead or chin Common amongst women who are pregnant, but men can get it too
Aging: Sun’s ultraviolet light damages the fibres in the so-called elastin, when these fiber break down, the skin begins to stretch and loses its ability to go back to it’s original appearance.
Actinic cheilitis: appear on lower lip.
Skin often bruises and tears more easily which take longer to heal
Sun damages your skin when you are young and skin changes can occur later.
Over a lifetime, repeated episode of sunburn and unprotected sun exposure can increase a person’s risk of malignant melanoma and other form of skin cancers

Swimming is one of the best forms of physical exercise, and popular physical activity during summer. But exposing skin to chlorine treated water and getting irritant skin is common.
Most swimming pools have chlorine treated water to keep bacteria and germs at bay. But this chlorine strips away protective natural oil when it comes in contact with skin and can cause:
⦁ Dry skin
⦁ Premature aging and damage due to protein loss
⦁ Itching and rash
⦁ Acne
⦁ Sun damage
So taking right precaution can help you prevent such skin problems
⦁ Sunscreen : waterproof sunscreen is best choice as it forms a protective barrier on top of your skin and prevents sun damage, and premature aging in regular swimmer ,block chlorine and retain moisturizer in your skin. Apply sunscreen 15 mins before you intend to swim. This will give your skin plenty of time to absorb the sunblock, forming a strong barrier. Chlorine by itself will not darken your skin, but with sun exposure it can give you a bad tan. This is why you must use sunscreen .
⦁ Shower : Before a dip if you take shower it will hydrate skin cells, reinforcing your sun block barrier
⦁ Hydrate : Keep sipping some water while you swim as your skin will retain moisturizer and not absorb excess amount of chlorine.
⦁ Warm water shower : Always take warm water shower as this will help open up your pores to allow a through cleaning. Use anti chlorine soap to cleanse your body, wash your hair thoroughly. Finish the shower with cool water to tighten your pores. this will prevent moisturizer loss.
⦁ Moisturizer : To keep your skin healthy it is important for swimmer to use moisturizer.
⦁ Antioxidants : Add antioxidants in diet this will help you relive the stress of oxidative damage .
⦁ After a dip ,don’t air dry as it leads to dryness of the skin
⦁ Exfoliate your face and body at least twice or thrice a week. Exfoliating allows you to get rid of dead skin and any product build up.
Now you have a completely skincare routine for swimmer, this routine will help to maintain and improve the health of your skin…

Summer is a trying time for your skin. The blazing skin, scorching heat, pollution and environmental contaminants take away your skin’s natural radiance, leaving it oily, dull and blemished.
Increase in temperature during summer combined with humidity and heat, can increase the activity of sebaceous glands, this makes oily skin appear more oily and dry skin appear rough and patchy. The intensity of sun rays also cause tanning by producing more melanin pigments

How to take care of your skin in summer season
Face wash: In summer you need a face wash that can draw out excess oil from your skin If you have dry skin, use non foaming cleanser Wash your face plenty of times during the day to keep your skin clean and refresh
Antioxidants: A good antioxidant serum will help to boost collagen production, and will scavenge harmful free radicals to prevent skin damage Add antioxidants like citrus fruits, green leafy vegetables, green tea, nuts, while grains in diet
Water: In summer, your skin requires moisture as well as hydration Increase intake of water as much as you can, remember to carry water where ever you go and drink a minimum of 2to 3 liters a day. Water is very crucial to flush out the toxins from the skin through sweat and urine Vit C is good for maintaining healthy collagen, add more of orange, lemon, grapefruit, tomato green leafy vegetables in diet
Exfoliate:Exfoliation is a key to brighter and smoother skin. It removes skin debris and piled up dead cells. Exfoliate your entire body and not just your face People with sensitive skin should opt for mild exfoliators
Sunscreen: Choose one with broad ultraviolet spectrum, reapply after every 3 hours if you are spending all day in sun. Cover your hands, feet, shoulders and neck
Makeup: Were minimal make up as humidity and heat supress the skin’s ability to breath and stress it out Use tinted moisturiser and tinted lip balm.
Toner: Toner is important to close pores, it is essential in summer to prevent oil accumulation in open pores. cucumber and aloe Vera base toner are light and refreshing
Moisturiser: Your skin needs moisture during summer Use a lighter and non greasy product that suits the weather
Eye care: Skin around eyes is much thinner and delicate as compared to the rest of your face Use a good undereye gel that has Hyluronic acid, cucumberor or honey. These ingredients keep the skin around the eyes hydrated and prevent wrinkle formation
Lip care: Use sun protecting lip balm
Fruits: Always choose seasonal fruits and vegetables that cools your body
Stay hygienic: Take bath twice daily, this will keep your skin fresh and away from lethargy.

If the colours used for playing holi are loaded with chemicals, they can be quite harsh and difficult to come off from the skin
So here are few tips:
How to remove colour from face: Wash your face with regular cleanser first, then splash cold water. A foaming face wash is better for removing colour, after that dip a cotton ball in coconut oil and give gentle massage with it on face and then again wash your face with face wash, don’t scrub your skin as it will damage your skin further
Moisturiser: Apply a moisturiser as skin becomes dry post holi
Avoid using excessive make up: As skin already got exposure to colour, it is best to avoid too much make up. As chemicals in cosmetics can give skin irritation. a light compact and BB cream can be used. You can go back to your make up routine in a day or two
Sunscreen: To prevent skin from damage, ensure that you are applying sunscreen every day even if you are indoors
Avoid parlor activity:  If you plan to do waxing, threading, it’s best to do after 5 days of holi As, your skin is already damage by colour and sun exposure you don’t want to irritate your skin further
Sometimes if you have sensitive skin or colour used are very harsh and full of chemicals, your skin can react and you will have redness, irritation or breakouts In such cases, visit your dermatologist immediately.
